Pigeon Tower Concierge
Taking care of a project from Arne Hendriks during summer of 2021 & 2022Together with Asuka Kondo & Emma HuffmanAbout Arne Hendriks project:
“We build pigeon towers with living waste mycelium. We want to learn how to work with living matter, for other than human life, with limited control over the material, with a sense of time and space. While we shape 'it", "it" shapes us. By inviting pigeons to nest in the living towers we invite them into our lives, into our consciousness, into our learning environment. Both pigeons and mycelium are great storytellers. Pigeons are incredible navigators, great cleaners of street debris, powerful cultural metaphors of hope and peace, and good companions, and they they also produce some of the world's best poop. Mixed with the transformational properties of the mycelium, the towers will soon turn into fertile soil.” (Copied from the Mediamatic website)
I also wrote two short blogposts about the pigeontowers and the work&stories around it:
